Ibiza Bar Guide
As well as a cracking club scene, Ibiza has also set the trend for lounge bars and sunset bars as the perfect prelude to a night out. The Café del Mar is probably the best known and has now been going for more than thirty years. But thanks to the island's incredible beaches and landscapes, there are numerous other spots to visit during the sunset hours, with soundtracks provided by local and international DJs. Café del Mar

This is the original chill out bar on Ibiza, located right on the beach in the west end of the town. Designed by Catalan architect Lluis Güell, it was founded in 1980 by Carlos Andrea, Ramon Guiral and José Les. Since its inception the bar has become a byword for the ambient Balearic sounds played in lounge bars and clubs around the world. The Café del Mar brand extended into CD compilations of music played by visiting DJ's in 1994 and there are now branches of the bar in other locations, such as Lanzarote and Singapore.

Arguably one of the best looking lounge bars on the island km5 is named after its location on the road that runs from Ibiza Town to San José. The rather plain exterior from the road hides a beautiful outdoor garden, chill out bar area and more formal dining zone. As well as an art gallery and boutique. With loads of great little areas and nooks and crannies to enjoy. This comes high on the list of our recommended lounge bars and rightly so, as km5 is not to be missed.

The location of Kumharas makes it an ideal spot to visit at sunset, as its terraces overlook the San Antonio bay and extend down onto the sands. A dry stone tower stands over the driftwood bar area, whilst the restaurant is housed in an unusual, sculptural structure that lends itself to the exotic menu, which fuses oriental and local ingredients. Performance artists, such as flame-throwers and jugglers offer a great choice of visual entertainment with the accompanying sounds provided by artists including Wax Da Beach, Sonik Garden and Salam.

As it's name suggests, Sands Beach restaurant is perfectly located for dining or whiling away the hours on the beautiful beach at Playa D'en Bossa. There are several large Indonesian style day beds, a range of beach loungers as well as more traditional seating areas under cover on the extensive terrace. The menu offers plenty of mouth-watering dishes, such as seared tuna steak with wok vegetables or Japanese sashimi and tempura. With a changing roster of DJ's the music varies from day to day. Sets from Boy George and Damian Wilson were part of the schedule during 2010.

Nassau Beach Club has been designed as a traditional beach hang out, with plenty of sun beds and parasols on the sandy beach, whilst the bar and restaurant area provide a cosy lounge area to retreat to. Making the most of the stunning beach at Playa D'en Bossa, this is the sort of place to head to for a day's sunbathing, combined with a relaxing meal, which can actually be served on your sun bed. Nassau's DJ plays lounge music during a set that extends from 13.00 until 20.00.
